Frequently Asked Questions

You can always reach out to us for any inquiries you may have… or even just to say hello. Before you do, here are a few questions we’ve been asked before.

Can I fully customize my own mountain climbing expedition?

Yes you can! Our packages are to a large extent for information purposes and very useful for those who have no plan at all, or no idea about mountain climbing. You can choose the number of days you’ll take to climb, your pace during the climb, preferred route, and so much more. This is going to be your experience, so make it as best as you’ll enjoy! We’re here to help.

What are the sleeping arrangements while climbing?

There are certainly no 5-star hotels atop Africa’s mountains. However, we strive to ensure you are as close to comfort as possible. A sleeping bag is A MUST, and a Travel sheet (sleeping bag inner) adds an extra layer of warmth. Have all the necessary equipment to keep you warm.

How do you minimize damage to the environment in your expeditions?

With over 50000 climbers visiting Kilimanjaro and thousands more visiting Mt. Kenya and others, the expeditions are bound to leave an ecological footprint. We promote environmental conservation, have zero tolerance to pollution and sensitize our travellers on the need to properly manage waste while on a trip.

It is our duty to conserve the environment as an inheritance for future generations.

Are there toilets/bathrooms up mountains?

For the most part, all you’ll have will be four walls and a hole in the ground… AKA a long-drop. An alternative would be to find a bush and ‘do your business’. If you choose the second option, be mindful to bag your tissue wipe in a polythene and dispose of it later.

What do I pack for a mountain climbing trek?

Before going on any climbing expedition, you need to be fully kitted. It is obvious that while you’ll be outdoor for a few days, you’ll be exposed to extremes of temperatures, weather, dampness and… the munchies of course! For a list of things you’ll need CLICK HERE and don’t be caught napping.

How much will it cost to climb Kilimanjaro?

The cost of an expedition is dependent on a number of factors including the number of persons in the expedition, time of year, amount of luggage you bring, number of porters and the number of days  of the climb. Most travel companies offer rates between $4000 and $1600. However, don’t choose ‘budget’ options at the expense of your safety, health and comfort. Ask us for your specific quotation today.

Can I combine my climbing trip with a safari before or after?

Totally! You can tweak your trip to whatever components you want to include or exclude. A safari after a climbing expedition is one of the best ideas as it helps you re-energize while enjoying the beautiful wonders of nature. Climbing is mentally and physically demanding, while on safari, you are just part of an audience to primodal violence and grace.

Do you offer charity treks in your climbing expeditions?

We engage in targeted charity activities among communities that live and depend on the ‘mountain economies’ of Eastern Africa. We donate part of our proceeds to charities and children’s homes living close to the mountains.

For Parties/Groups/Organisations wishing to organize charity climbs, mountain climbing can be a good way to publicize your campaigns. We offer guides and trip itineraries for such events and donate part of the profits to a charity of your choice.
